Trishuli River Rafting

The classic Nepal rafting weekend - rapids, beaches and gorges

🗓 2 days 🏔 500m 👥 Max 16

Overview

The Trishuli is Nepal's most popular river for rafting - accessible from Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan, with a perfect mix of exciting rapids (Class II to Class IV), calm stretches, sandy beaches and dramatic gorges. Our 2-day Trishuli rafting trip is the perfect weekend adventure, suitable for first-time rafters and families.

Day 1 starts with a scenic 3-hour drive from Kathmandu to the put-in point at Charaundi, where you receive a safety briefing and paddling instruction from your IRF-certified rafting guide. Then 3-4 hours of rafting through rapids like Twin Rocks, Ladies' Delight and Upset, with a packed lunch on a sandy beach. Camp overnight on a white-sand beach with a campfire dinner under the stars.

Day 2 brings more rapids including the famous Pinball and Surprise, before taking out at Kuringhat and driving back to Kathmandu (or onward to Pokhara or Chitwan). The trip is graded Moderate - no previous rafting experience is required, and the river can be run year-round, with bigger water in the monsoon and gentler rapids in the dry season.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need previous rafting experience?

No. The Trishuli is the perfect river for first-time rafters. Your IRF-certified guide will give you a full safety briefing and paddling instruction before you launch, and the rapids are graded Class II to IV - exciting but not extreme. The river can be run year-round: water levels are higher and rapids more challenging in the monsoon (June to September), and gentler in the dry season.

What should I bring for the rafting trip?

Bring quick-dry clothing (synthetic or merino - avoid cotton), a swimsuit, a fleece or warm layer for the evening, a sun hat, sunglasses with a retention strap, sunscreen, a water bottle, a headlamp, and a small dry bag for your phone and camera. We provide all rafting equipment (raft, paddle, helmet, life jacket), tent, sleeping mat and all meals. Bring your own sleeping bag or rent one for USD 5.
